9) Use salt in cleaning your iron.

Even iron can have build-up over time. Whether it’s from melted buttons or clothing stains, gunk can get transferred from the fabric to your iron. Remedy this by sprinkling salt on a sheet of paper. Run the iron (should be warm enough) on the salt a few times to remove stains and residue. When that’s done, let the iron cool and wipe it clean with a cloth.
