4. Potbellied Heroism
Arguably one of the cutest animal hero stories, this Vietnamese potbellied pig ended up saving her owner in 1998. While inside a Pennsylvania trailer, Jo Ann Altsman had an unexpected heart attack, leaving her paralyzed on the floor. LuLu, Altsman’s 150 pound potbellied pig, sprang into action and quickly bolted out of her very own doggy door. She proceeded to run into the street and lie down, pretending to be dead in a brilliant attempt to garner attention. Eventually, a driver saw LuLu, stopped, and followed her to Altsman’s trailer where he called 911.
