Much like certain dog breeds, some cat breeds can be trained as service animals and save their owner’s life. A cat in Ohio did just this in 2006! Gary Rosheisen, bound to a wheelchair and prone to experience unexpected ministrokes, successfully trained his cat, Tommy, to speed-dial 911 in case of an emergency. On the fateful day in question, Tommy did just that. Rosheisen had a stroke and fell out of his wheelchair, causing the smart kitty to speed-dial medics immediately. While there was no voice on the emergency call, the responders arrived to find Rosheisen on the floor and Tommy sitting near a phone.
