This queen of comedy has been in the public eye since the 90s. She started out as a traveling comedian. While receiving mild success, she eventually landed roles in television sitcoms, including “The Parkers” from 1999 to 2004. As her status continued to rise in Hollywood, she started booking even more prestigious projects. Her big break was when she played an abusive mother in 2009’s “Precious”. While the movie instantly became a classic and her acting was top notch, she still became the victim of Hollywood blacklisting. This was due to her refusal to promote “Precious” for an Oscar. Supposedly, she refused to work with executives to promote the picture.
