In 1999, South African cricketer Hansie Cronje was one of the most well-known cricketers in the world, but not for the reasons he might have hoped it would be for. The cricketer was involved in a match-fixing scandal with police in the city of Dehlia in India. Unlike most scandals where there are just accusations thrown around, there was hard evidence to prove that Cronje was guilty. A conversation of Cronje and the police negotiating matches were recorded. He was banned for life from the sport.
