El Chapo
Joaquin’ El Chapo’ Guzman orchestrated two successful prison escapes as the head of the Sinaloa cartel. El Chapo was well connected and pulled off his first jailbreak by hiding inside a laundry mat at a maximum-security prison in Mexico. His second escape, more than a decade later, was even more daring. In 2015, his men dug a mile-long tunnel from an unfinished barn into El Chapo’s cell. However, his freedom was short-lived as the drug lord was arrested six months later and extradited to the U.S.
