Sid and Nancy
More than forty years after their groundbreaking debut, the Sex Pistons, a punk rock band from England, are still considered British rock and roll pioneers. Their stay on mainstream entertainment only lasted two years, with Sid choosing to branch off solo after the group split in the late ’70s. He moved to New York and stayed with Nancy at the Chelsea hotel. In 1977, authorities claim a heavily intoxicated Sid stabbed his girlfriend in the abdomen before passing out. Nobody knows what happened on the night of the stabbing since Sid died a few months later from a drug overdose.
