Freddie Mercury was the flamboyant showman and lead singer of the band Queen. At the time, there was a lot of negative publicity regarding celebrities’ sexual preferences, and Mercury was among the few bisexual men in Hollywood. A few months before his death, a photo showing the singer’s virus ravaged self was leaked, prompting his aides to release a statement that Freddie was indeed sick. Four years after the singer was diagnosed with AIDS, Freddie passed away due to AIDS-related complications.
