Japan has suffered major natural and humanmade disasters over the years, but JAL flight 123 remains among the worst. In 1985, an Osaka bound JAL flight 123 took off from the Haneda Airport in Tokyo with 524 onboard. Less than 12 minutes later, there was a large explosion at the plane’s tail end, rendering the flight uncontrollable. The plane soon crashed into the Osaka mountains, with only four people surviving from the initial 524. The photo below had been taken a couple of minutes before the crash.
