9. Kaesong Residential District

Kaesong is a small industrial town located two and a half hours away from the capital Pyongyang. The town is one of the few places you’ll find North and South Koreans interacting freely inside North Korea. Another interesting fact about this small town is that after the Korean War, Kaesong was the only influential city that changed hands between the sworn enemies. However, the Kaesong workers live in deplorable conditions, with most of them lacking basic amenities such as electricity and piped water.
