In 1961, the Amphicar model 770 was introduced in the U.S. market and became an instant hit among the rich folk. Although mass production lasted for only four years, the more famous owner of the Amphicar was former president Lyndon B Johnson. The U.S.’s 36th president was known for his funny side and famously pranked state guests who visited his Texas ranch by speeding downhill and into the lake while complaining of failed breaks.
