Gandhi is considered by far India’s most influential nationalist who led India to independence through nonviolent resistance. Two years before his assassination in 1948, a brave American photojournalist, Margaret Bourke-White, got the rare opportunity to capture Mahatma Gandhi. To get close to Gandhi, Margaret was tasked with spinning Gandhi’s famous homespun. After two failed shots, Margaret was able to turn the homespun and capture this iconic image used by civil rights activists worldwide.
