3. Earl Cameron
One trailblazing actor he was! Earl Cameron is considered England’s first Black movie star who recently passed at the surprising age of 102 on July 3. Cameron successfully transcended racial boundaries through many of his roles in British cinema, with the 1951 released “Pool of London” being the most significant one. The film had two major elements: 1. The first Black man to appear in a leading role in a mainstream movie, and 2. First story of interracial relationship. He also appeared in “The Queen” as a royal portrait artist, and “The Interpreter” as an African dictator.
