5. Notebook Margins
Most people would assume that notebook margins are placed for the sole purpose of serving as a writing guide, or to align your writing on the paper. While that can be true, manufacturers actually invented notebook margins for an altogether different purpose! Decades ago it was highly common for rats to live throughout the houses. And one of the many things rats love to destroy and chew on are papers, particularly around the edges of the paper! Paper manufacturers designed notebook margins so that people would write well into the margins, thus saving your writing if ever the paper gets chewed on at the edges by rats.
