The Schipperke is a small Belgain breed of dog with black fur and pointed ears. A member of the spitz group, it is similar in appearance to both a miniature Dachshund and a French Poodle. They make excellent watchdogs. They are very curious and love to explore the world around them. Not only do they have natural instincts for protecting their owners, but they also have a great desire to please people. They get along well with children and other animals when raised together from puppyhood.
