9. Standard Schnauzer

The Standard Schnauzer was bred to drive cattle and guard sheep, so it’s no surprise that they’re very intelligent dogs. In fact, on average their intelligence is rated as being on par with that of a three-year-old child! They learn tricks quickly and have a knack for problem solving. Schnauzers tend to do well in obedience trials because they are so easy to train—they respond well to positive reinforcement and can understand a variety of commands.
