The Coconut Crab

Also known as coconut thieves, these monstrous crabs are antisocial and native to the Pacific and Indian Oceans. With a weight of about nine pounds and a length of about 3 feet long, these crabs are ironically related to the hermit crabs, which are smaller than the palm of your hand. As their name suggests, coconut crabs mostly feed on coconuts and occasionally devour little rats, dead animals, and other crabs. Since coconuts are notoriously hard to break into, these crabs can pop open the fruits, but the process can sometimes take them a couple of days.
