Suspect Highway
It’s not uncommon to find railways intersecting with highways, but in Gibraltar, the Gibraltar International Airport runway intersects with Winston Churchill Avenue. Moreover, the highway is one of the city’s busiest roads, making for a hazardous situation during rush hours. There are movable barriers and 24/7 guards who control traffic whenever there’s a plane on the runway, but it’s still too dangerous for motorists and flights alike. Fortunately, the Gibraltar government saw the need to move the highway, and plans are underway to construct a new highway away from the airport.
