As the title states, the Worshipful Master is the supreme leader of a freemason lodge. With no regard to social stature, any man can aspire to become a worshipful master. The leader is carefully selected and groomed to oversee that all lodge members carry out their allocated duties. With such powers, the master must be respected, and the most significant sign of disrespect is showing him your back. Before speaking to the room, members must first acknowledge the worshipful master and face him throughout the entire address.
