The 1940 U.S. Republican presidential candidate tried to unseat the 32nd president of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt. His “One World” concept of International cooperation is what he is mostly known for now. He had an optimistic and inspiring vision of his country. One of his most famous quotes is “Education is the mother of leadership.” Before Wendell Willkie joined the Republican party, he was a delegate at the Democratic convention in 1932. His dispute with Franklin Roosevelt caused him to leave the Democratic party in 1939.
