Elizabeth Dole

Elizabeth Dole served in the Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush presidential administrations. Dole was initially a Democrat but changed to the Republican party. From 2003 to 2009, the politician served in the United States Senate. Dole was the second woman to serve as president since 1881 when Clare Barton founded the American Red Cross. She served in the office as a Democrat in the 1960s. She remained with the Nixon administration. Elizabeth Dole switched parties in 1975. A year later, her husband, Bob Dole, joined the GOP presidential ticket.
