By design, the White House was made to exude elegance and rival the homes of the royalty in European countries. From January 20, 2009 to January 20, 2017, the Obamas occupied arguably the best furnished home in the Western Hemisphere for eight years. The Obamas were living the American dream in one of America’s most lavish homes. But before Barack and Michelle vacated America’s most famous residence, they scooped up a private home in Washington D.C.’s historic Kalorama neighborhood. Where is the ex leader of the free world living now, and how does it compare to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue? Feast your eyes on the Obamas new home.

The Obamas New Residence

Initially, the Obamas weren’t looking to live in Washington D.C. post Barack’s second term in office. They only wanted to remain in the area until Sasha Obama finished high school. So they rented out their current residence for a whopping $22,000 per month. That’s more than some American’s annual salaries! However, the famous couple decided to stay in Washington D.C. soon after moving in. Their grand home is estimated to have cost between $6 and $8 million.
