Once the first family moves in, some apparent changes will occur, and some things will be discarded. Nonetheless, the state will only fund part of the decorating amount, and the family will have to cover all the extra expenses. The first lady is allowed to choose her preferred interior designer, but some rooms are off-limits. The interior designer will need to work with the White House curator, who strikes a balance between the things that can be moved and those that cannot.
