Thanks to the high number of migratory Germans who settled in Texas in the mid-19th century, a unique Texas German dialect is common in Boerne, Schulenburg, Fredericksburg, New Braunfels, and Weimar. As you can see, German words were also used when naming these towns. Interestingly Texas is more than twice the size of Germany and larger than all European countries except for Russia, of course. Next time you’re in Texas and crave a taste of the European culture, be sure to visit the places mentioned above.
