12. Confusing Time or Place

It fairly normal and quite common to forget what day of the week it is, but generally we all remember eventually. An early sign of dementia however, is losing track of dates completely and being unable to recall them even with prompting. People with dementia may even forget the season without visual clues, and often lose track of the passage of time.

Linked to this, people with dementia can also struggle to understand things that are not happening right now, for example can sit and eat dinner, but unable to decide whether they would like dessert.

People with dementia may forget where they are, even if it is a place they are familiar with. They can also forget how they got to or why they are in are certain place, such as the hospital.
