Men were fans of long hair, even though they were riding around in the hot sun on their horses. Long locks were the look for the men of the Wild West. Beards were not as common as they used to be. Cowboys opted for short facial hair instead. The people also had a unique way of washing their hair. Good hair washes involved a bottle of Whiskey. Ladies would mix Whiskey and castor oil and use it to wash their hair. They also were inventive when it came to styling. They used hot pencils to curl their hair.
