The Silent People
Scarecrows can be scary, especially when a crow starts bellowing nearby. In a field next to Highway Five in Finland, an artist erected 1,000 scarecrows dressed in colorful clothing and straw heads. Motorists new to the area are often terrified of the sight, yet the Finish artist, Reijo Kela, has never explained this project’s real meaning. Google street view has also captured similar scarecrows in parts of Helsinki, with the artist explaining that the scarecrows had been on the move before settling in Highway Five.
