Russia and The U.S. have always maintained tense relationships due to their frequent superiority battles. In 1867, history suggests that the two countries were in harmony with Russian leader Alexander II willingly selling Alaska to the U.S. At the time, Alaska was largely inhabited and the freezing temperatures made exploring virtually impossible. $7.2million seemed a fairly reasonable price, but we all know the gold and other natural resources discovered in Alaska are worth more than the price the U.S. paid for the place.
