Before the pandemic, Golden Corral was thriving, with the parent company projecting increased profits every quarter since 2018. However, just like most restaurants in the buffet and grill space, the franchise ended up closing all of its 33 stores countrywide. Golden Corral thrived on its buffet business model where customers could enjoy a buffet communally. This, however, wasn’t possible with the social restrictions, and it was almost impossible for the company to stay afloat. However, as of October 2020, more than half of their stores were operational in Florida and Georgia.
