As you can see, not everything in North Korea is in pitiful conditions. In 2013, two years after South Korea was chosen to host the 2018 Olympic Games, Kim Jong Un saw an opportunity to get a piece of South Korea’s Olympic pie. South Korea could not host some winter games such as skiing and held talks with the North on making it possible for them to host the games together. Other than the fact that the Olympic games were an excellent opportunity to make money, Kim Jong Un is believed to have developed a passion for skiing as a student in Switzerland.
