Melania was born in a small Slovenian town called Ljubljana, which was part of the larger Yugoslavia. Her passion for fashion and runway-worthy height made it possible for her to grace major fashion shows across Europe and eventually landed her in the country. She is also the second first lady in almost 200 years to be born outside the US since Louisa Adams in 1825. Louisa, the wife of John Quincy Adams and the sixth president of the US, was born in London to an American merchant and English woman.
